Advocate and Ally: Erika Welch, Case Manager

Posted by

For more than eight years, Medical Case Manager Erika Welch has been an advocate, ally, and safety net, helping patients with HIV access healthcare and engage in care. She is with them every step of the way. If someone can’t afford their medications, Erika connects them to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program or other resources that help with treatment expenses. She also links patients to emergency resources for housing and food, makes sure they have access to behavioral health and dental services, and she follows up to ensure their needs are met.

“Erika provides excellent, client-centered services to everyone on her caseload,” says Olivia Rousselo, Supervisor of Case Management. “She consistently goes above and beyond and sets the standard for the rest of the team.”

“I love serving my clients, some of whom have been on my caseload since I started at KC CARE in 2012,” Erika says. “I think relationships are the most important thing in life, and I cannot imagine another job that would allow me to form such quality connections.”
