Current vaccines make for healthy kids

Routine vaccination is essential for protecting individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases and outbreaks – even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Routine vaccination prevents illnesses that lead to unnecessary medical visits, hospitalizations, and further strain on the healthcare system.

COVID-19 has led to steep declines in routine immunization, making childhood immunizations especially urgent locally and across the U.S.

Here’s what you need to know about required vaccines

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website provides informational resources on the vaccines you and your child should get at every age:

Please note: A COVID-19 or coronavirus vaccine does not yet exist for widespread community use, though several versions are being tested in clinical trials across the country.

Flu season is almost here

KC CARE can provide you and your child with age-appropriate flu vaccines. For the upcoming influenza (flu) seasontypically from October to Mayflu shot will help reduce the impact and spread of respiratory illnesses which might also burden the healthcare system during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Be prepared for school requirements:

School may look different this year—but keeping your kids’ vaccinations current is just as important. Whether your child is in a regular school classroom or doing virtual learning from home, their vaccines should be up to date – per state and school district requirements

The MDHSS website also has 2020-2021 Missouri School Immunization Requirements:

Whenever students return to regular school setting, regular vaccines will be required for classroom participation. Make an appointment now, so you’ll be prepared then.
