KC CARE Clinic Acquires New Location in Northeast Kansas City

The Kansas City CARE Clinic is excited to announce it opened a third Clinic location in the Northeast Neighborhood of Kansas City on April 10, 2017.
The Kansas City CARE Clinic acquired Neighborhood Family Care, a private practice in operation since 1994, upon the retirement of beloved Northeast community member Dr. Elaine Joslyn.
“As the founder and physician of NEighborhood Family Care, I have dedicated my career to serving this Kansas City neighborhood by providing quality and compassionate healthcare. My career has been rewarding and driven by my love for this community,” said Dr. Joslyn. “As I considered my plans for retirement, my goal was to find the right partner to assume responsibility for my clinic and my patients. With the Kansas City CARE Clinic, I see an organization with a common vision and dedication to the community.”
The KC CARE Clinic, one of the nation’s largest charitable care clinics, is not new to the Northeast. For years, as the Kansas City Free Health Clinic, it operated a location less than two miles from the NEighborhood Family Care location.
“We do not take this honor lightly,” said KC CARE CEO Sheri Wood. “Dr. Joslyn’s clinic is a true Northeast Neighborhood institution that has faithfully served its residents. We are thrilled to serve the community through this new location. Returning to the Northeast feels like coming home, and we could not be happier.”
As a foremost safety net provider in the Kansas City metro for more than 46 years, the KC CARE Clinic is well equipped to transition care of Dr. Joslyn’s 2,000+ patients. The Clinic already serves 12,000 patients through its current locations in Midtown at 3515 Broadway and a Prospect/Meyer office at 2340 E. Meyer Blvd. on Research Medical Center’s campus.
In its 46-year history, the Kansas City CARE Clinic has evolved and adapted to meet the needs of the community despite changes in the healthcare landscape. The Clinic has always been committed to providing high-quality, culturally competent primary care and reducing health disparities in the underinsured and uninsured populations. With nearly 250,000 individuals estimated to need access to primary care in the Kansas City metro, the KC CARE Clinic is an established community leader in HIV services and an essential regional partner, collaborating for years with the area’s other FQHCs, community safety net clinics, healthcare providers, regional foundations, and civic leaders to help address this larger community need.
To celebrate the occasion, the Kansas City CARE Clinic will be hosting a Grand Opening with the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 4:00 p.m at 4601 Independence Ave, Kansas City, MO 64124. Members of the media are invited to attend.
