Lead Customer Service Rep, Leo Marroquin serves from experience

Leo Marroquin, Lead Customer Service Representative at KC CARE Health Center for the last three years, recently received our Champion of the Month designation. Each month, three employees are awarded Champion of the Month for each of our strategic priorities – Employer of Choice, Provider of Choice, and Growth Management. In March, Leo was awarded Employer of Choice Champion.

His nominator, Mallory Kremer, Insurance & Benefits Billing Specialist highlighted Leo saying he is “the face of KC CARE” and “one of the brightest people [she] knows.” He is known by KC CARE patients as accommodating, welcoming, and efficient. He offers a valuable skill as a bilingual employee – a huge benefit to our patients whose first language is Spanish.

Jordyn Reynolds, Customer Service Manager and Leo’s direct supervisor says “Leo’s teamwork and dedication have been invaluable to the department. He has a proactive and problem-solving mindset that doesn’t go unnoticed.”

Resourcefulness is an important aspect of being a frontline worker at KC CARE. Daily, our Customer Service Representatives help our patients navigate systemic barriers to care. These staff members provide the first and primary assistance many people receive to ensure they receive the unconditional, comprehensive care they deserve.

“I like working [at KC CARE] because we provide access to healthcare to underserved communities regardless of their ability to pay. As an immigrant, I understand the fear of looking for healthcare due to a language barrier or other statuses,” Leo says, “I enjoy the diversity of the Kansas City community and how much I can learn from other cultures. Wherever there is diversity and inclusion, it leads to self-growth.”
